The ongoing unrest in Egypt has started to affect parts of the German economy, too. Numerous German companies have a direct stake in Egypt, and major automakers like BMW and VW have been forced to halt shipping and production there.The hotel chain Steigenberger normally does good business in Egypt--some 1.2 million German tourists visit the country every year. But with Egypt now in turmoil, many travelers are staying away.
